Voting in a Federal Election

To vote in a federal election, you must be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 years old on election day, and prove your identity and address.

Once an election is called, you will have several voting options:

  • Voting on election day
  • Voting at advance voting stations
  • Voting by mail
  • Voting at a local Elections Canada office

Registering for the Liberal Party of Canada

To be eligible to vote for the nomination of Liberal Party of Canada candidates, and local riding (EDA) executives, and other party positions, individuals must be a Registered Liberal.

To register as a supporter of the Liberal Party of Canada, one must be a Canadian Citizen or permanent resident, be at least 14 years old, and is not a member of any other federal political party.
